Youth Digital Media Competition

Youth PWR Charity in partnership with StartUp Croydon are offering young people in South London aged between 16-25 the opportunity to gain skills in digital media production through the YDM Project which will develop their employability prospects in the media industry.

This Summer, they are running a competition to win cash prizes as well as admittance to a six week summer bootcamp of intensive training.

We are delighted to be partnering with our tenant member Youth PWR to offer a career pathway in to the film and television production industry. This is our first new incentive under our new leadership and edges us towards supporting local people through the changing economical landscape.

Taking the lead of a charity who’s mission is to support and inspire potential entrepreneurs, during the middle of a pandemic wasn’t something I had expected to be doing 12 months ago. However as someone who has overcome challenges and gained recognition as a leader, it fills me with excitement to be able to make a real impact on other peoples lives. I am now able to focus my energy and time connecting the many inspirational people I meet to help make ideas actually happen!

As the economy changes in the coming months and years, finding new career paths and employment opportunities should be high on our agenda.  Hospitality has changed and low entry jobs will be highly sought after.

With cinemas closing and the habit of theatre going and gig attending yet to gain traction again, we need to empower this potential work force with the skills, confidence and connections to find opportunity.

With news that Netflix have doubled their commitment to British film making for 2022 and more television production happening in the UK than ever before, it’s fair to say this sector is recession proof and low entry jobs are in abundance. We got to thinking how can we help local people take advantage of this opportunity and in partnership with Youth PWR and with inspiration from Mascot films we have developed a Youth Digital Media Project titled,

What does freedom Mean to you?

If you have a passion for film and a camera phone and are aged 16-25 and live in the Croydon area you can enter this competition. Find out more here.
