Take a chance on Croydon

  • News

We’ve been busy in our podcast room delivering our usual podcast series with the wonderful Aysha Iqbal.

This month we decided to evolve our offer and include video. We were delighted to have Matthew Simms CEO of the Croydon Bid come in to tell us all that is happening in Croydon’s town centre.

Matthew has served the interests of the Croydon business community for over 17 years. Over the past decade, Matthew has led Croydon BID during a time of extensive regeneration and change while responding proactively to challenging economic environments. Matthew is the Chair of the Association of Town and City Management for the London region.

Central to the success of Croydon BID is the ability to create long-term successful relationships with partners, stakeholders, and our 500 business members to create one significant influential voice as our destination looks to change and adapt.

Here at Startup Croydon, We all agree that it’s a pretty tough gig to promote our town centre these days and with responsibilities around safety and hygiene as well as economic growth The Business Improvement District needs us to get behind them to help make a difference.

Croydon BID has had to get creative with how they respond to regular bad news stories. One of the points Matts eludes to in this podcast is their recent collaboration with East Croydon Cool to showcase 50 Great things in Croydon.

We are delighted our Creative Digital Lab made it onto the list along with so many other wonderful things in our borough.

Take a listen and watch Matthew and Ayesha as they discuss our town centre, what is happening now and what will happen in the future.
