Special treatment licence
Businesses offering special treatments such as massage, manicure, piercing and tattooing must have a licence.
Businesses with licences that expired 31 March 2020 must apply to renew their licence, if they haven’t already. Renewal applications can be sent to licensing@croydon.gov.uk.
Discretionary Grants Fund Scheme
The government Discretionary Grants Fund Scheme for small businesses with ongoing property-related costsis still available
It is important to note that this fund is significantly smaller than the previous coronavirus grant programmes introduced by the government and will only be able to support a limited number of businesses in Croydon.
To be eligible businesses must:
– have been trading on or before 11 March 2020
– employ fewer than 50 employees
– have experienced a significant drop in revenue and / or financial impact
– have fixed property-related costs
– have not received other coronavirus-specific grants (not including the coronavirus job retention scheme to furlough staff, or the self-employment income support scheme)
– have experienced a 40% or more drop in income due to the impact of coronavirus crisis
Please note, charities and bed and breakfasts are not eligible to apply.

Pay it forward – free crowdfunding for businesses
The Mayor of London’s Pay it Forward initiative is providing a free platform for businesses to fundraise and help trade by pre-selling vouchers, goods and services.
Keeping Customers Safe Beyond COVID-19
Customer-facing industries across the world have been severely impacted by COVID-19, with businesses having to adjust their operations.
People 1st International have been working with key partners to develop affordable e-learning which is online and bite-sized. It is aimed at front-line staff who come into contact with and have regular interactions with customers, including retail staff, hospitality staff, wardens and town hosts.
The learning is:
– An easily accessible 60 minute e-learning programme
– Adaptable to multiple roles, working environments, sectors or industries
– Applicable in the participants work setting
– Affordable, costing just £5 per person (plus VAT)

Local suppliers needed
We are looking for local suppliers who can support our Croydon Council Stay Put team.
Can you offer the following:
– Emergency short notice cleaning
– DBS checked Staff
– Blitz cleaning in occupied properties i.e. Houses and flats
– Decluttering
– Furniture moves or removal
If you can provide the above list of services, we would like to invite you to our event on the 29th July 2020.
