South Norwood – building a community

Despite its SE postcode, South Norwood is only a stone’s throw from Croydon and is hoping to gain some positive advantages from the regeneration within the Croydon borough.  South Norwood has ambitions to bring both the business and residential community together and emulate the best strategies to give the town a real boost.

To do this, Kathy Bee, Labour Councillor for South Norwood, recently organised a number of events at Stanley Halls to enable visitors to find out how we, in Croydon, have tapped into the community ethos and are making things happen.

Our Croydon initiatives include The Good Employer Charter, Develop Croydon Forum and StartUp Croydon’s SEEK Project, as well as many others that are of huge benefit to our growing borough.

South Norwood can currently boast a fully equipped modern Leisure Centre and the historical Stanley Halls, a beautiful Grade II listed Edwardian arts venue, located very close to Norwood Junction station. The halls comprise an art gallery, theatre and assembly rooms.  Events include all kinds of music, cinema screenings and theatrical and comedy productions.  Click here for a list of forthcoming events at the halls.
