SEEK Social Entrepreneurs Gain Their Wings and Fly The Nest

Doesn’t time fly when you are enjoying yourself?  It seems like only last week that our latest cohort of five fledgling social entrepreneurs started their journey from different areas and with different ideas to help tackle local social issues from helping disengaged youth with workshops and services to easing the stress of modern day life through mindfulness and healthy vegan food.

But what seems like just a week is, in reality, a process that has lasted more than six months.  Like many fledglings, we’ve seen their ideas born, then take a few teetering steps through the research and testing phases of their products and services.

Learning to walk before they can fly, there have, naturally, been some ups and downs but earlier this month saw their ideas come of age and, amongst the flock of other supportive organisations gathered together, this year’s SEEK participants graduated and celebrated their journey.  It was a time to celebrate but also to reflect on our own journeys and how we have supported over 25 local people who were unemployed or economically inactive consider starting a social enterprise in order to help others.

Sadly, it is with regret that the SEEK programme has now closed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.  However, we are considering and researching how we continue to assist people with an ambition to start a social enterprise to help local communities and / or the environment.

We would like to thank all of those individuals and organisations who have supported us and our SEEK participants over the last two years and look forward to identifying other support and opportunities to work with you in the future.

In the meantime, if you are interested in speaking with one of our advisers regarding your idea, please get in contact with us on 0203 747 4744 or 0203 747 4743 or email gr@startupcroydon.co.uk or ab@startupcroydon.co.uk
