Pop-Up Designer Goods Shop – Available Until 17th August

All About Me
StartUp Croydon has been assisting Michelle Scott, Employment Support Officer for Croydon Council, to achieve her vision of opportunities and training for all via a pop-up shop in the Whitgift centre.
All About Me is only open until 17th August, (opposite Superdrug) so rush now to find designer goods, all hand made by local people, community groups and students from the Brit School. All About Me’s brand is about uniqueness, both in the goods on sale and the staff – items such as Made in Croydon clothing, art works, jewellery etc are priced from around £4 upwards, and this is a great place for a unique gift!
Michelle commented that “people will buy a Tshirt with Gucci on the front for £70, why not represent Croydon for £20?”
Michelle’s idea for All About Me was formed around a year ago – she is passionate about providing real-life work experience to people with disabilities and representing some of the talent that is available in Croydon. All About Me trainees learn customer service, team work, how to use a till and they also gain a Level 1 retail qualification, have fun and make friends! Trainees can have any disability, are aged from 20 to 60 plus and are very happy with their experience
Christos, one of the staff at All About Me said “It makes me happy coming out to work every day – it’s bringing back my experience of customer care, and selling hand made goods is a very good idea”.
Michelle has been supported by Croydon Council throughout her journey. She also attended our 3-day, new business training course, which she found very inspiring and de-mystified the process for her. We have really enjoyed mentoring Michelle to achieve such a great result – watch this space for future ventures from her and her unique team!
