Keep Croydon Connected: donate your used tech to people who need it

A new initiative is collecting devices for children, young people and older people in need.
Now more than ever, we need to be connected to our family and friends. Digital connections are a lifeline for many, and so Go2Games, Croydon Commitment, Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) and Croydon Council, have joined together to ask local businesses to support the “Keep Croydon Connected” project.
Donations in the form of laptops, Chromebooks and Android mobile phones and tablets would be very much appreciated. These will go to charities working with socially isolated older people, young people requiring counselling, and children who need devices for school. It’s crucial now that children can access online learning. In Croydon there are a number of families who do not have access to IT, but do not qualify for support from the Department of Education (DfE). This scheme will help address that gap.
The devices need to be in working order, sanitised and reset before being donated to ensure that there is no personal information on them. If you have a charger please include that too.
Safeguarding is of the utmost importance. A safeguarding pack will be provided to assist in the process of removing data from your device and any further assistance will be provided by Go2Games.com and its partners.
Please promote this service to people you work with and others in your network.
