Halloween and other October traditions

Halloween
October is a month of change with shorter, colder days and for many it’s a chance to dress up on the 31st to celebrate Halloween – but look out for ducks on the last day of the month as they may predict the weather for winter:
Weatherill House is based close to Wandle Park and is easily reached by excellent public transport links in all directions. There are many ducks available to view and feed throughout the winter and if you are looking for office space, an added perk is that the park is an ideal place for a brisk walk and breath of fresh air.
Even if you’re not interested in the ducks, Weatherill House has many advantages over other serviced offices in Croydon. We don’t sign you up to lengthy contractual agreements, our rental fees are all inclusive with no hidden costs and we don’t charge our tenants for using our 5 modern meeting rooms that are available to external businesses from £10 per hour.
Contact us today on 0203 7474747 for the latest availability and to find out about our great discount scheme for new start-ups.
Black History Month
Many cities and towns around the UK celebrate Black History Month, in recognition of the contribution that peoples of African descent and other ethnic minorities make to UK society.
The theme for 2019 is “Black Migrations.” The Association for the Study of African American Life and History says the theme will focus on “the movement of African Americans to new destinations and subsequently to new social realities.
Check out the CBME website for local events that are open to Croydon residents and businesses.
StartUp Croydon Events
There are still some spaces available on our signature 3-Day Business Training Course for October. Costing just £20 inc VAT, this certified course offers new start-ups and those who are currently in business but struggling with the basics, a comprehensive programme of training covering Administration, Finance and Marketing. The course runs monthly (except December).
We are delighted to host two popular networking events at Weatherill House. Croydon Enterprise Plus is a friendly mixed group of business professionals who meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7.30am to not only make business connections but also impart knowledge and local information and Ladies who Latte, that takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 10am, an all-female group offering a more business/lifestyle experience with support and advice throughout the session.
And Finally ….. some interesting anniversaries:
3rd October 1906 – SOS was established as the international distress signal
13th October 1884 – Greenwich meantime started
20th October 1966 – the first message was sent between 2 computers in California USA
