Croydon Means Business & So Do We!

Our yearly Croydon Business Month seems to have dropped off the radar this year, or has it? In fact, Croydon Council took the initiative in January 2018 to deliver a yearlong programme of events under their new label “Croydon Means Business” that aimed to help Croydon’s businesses continue to develop and grow, creating new job opportunities for local people and boosting the local economy. Croydon as a whole holds so many business events across all 12 months that it seemed logical to showcase all of them, every month, instead of squeezing as many events as possible into just a few short weeks.
In addition, the Council aims to explore the barriers to, and opportunities for, growth for Croydon’s SMEs, the commission published a report showcasing their findings and an action plan for delivery that proposed cross-organisational working so that collectively businesses, business support agencies and the council could work together to unleash Croydon’s growth potential.
StartUp Croydon is totally committed to the new initiative and, not only are we actively involved in the business community, we hold our own events and host events for local networking organisations throughout the year. In order to help small businesses and start-ups to succeed, we hold a monthly comprehensive 3-day training course for £20 and offer free mentoring to those who need continued support.
Our SEEK project, now in its second year, is proving a great success in getting the long term unemployed or economically inactive back into work by starting their own social enterprise.
