Changing of the Guard

  • News

Earlier in November, we were delighted to welcome our new Chairman, Paul Taylor, to the head of our Board of Trustees.

Paul has been on the Board as honorary treasurer since July 2021, but has been heavily involved in our business for many years prior to that. Paul’s previous company, Kings Mill Partnership, of which he was the Senior Partner, have been our accountant delivering an annual audit and monthly management accounts since our inception in the early 80s.

Paul takes over from Fintan O’Toole, who has held the role of Chairman for three years whilst sitting on the Board for two years prior to that.

Fintan bought his extensive HR knowledge and his unique style to our organisation which in turn increased impact and allowed for the natural evolution of outcomes and reach to our service users.

As these changes take place, we also bid farewell to Trustees Emma Carpenter and Toni Letts, who both stepped down after many years of commitment. Emma was involved in delivering the three-day course from as far back as 1998 and is stepping down due to personal commitments, while Toni Letts, who is well known for her enthusiasm for all things Croydon, is stepping down to pursue other interests.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our Trustees, but especially to Emma, Toni and Fintan for the years of unfaltering commitment you have shown towards our charity as non-executives, and know you will all remain friends and supporters of us and our mission.

Over the next few years, we look forward to transforming our activities to deliver more relevant training programmes to Croydon’s fledgling business owners and offering more initiatives to the established entrepreneurs in our borough.
