BBH Winner Spring 2022 – Winston Douglas

We are delighted to announce the winner from our Spring 2022 incubator programme: Winston Douglas from Urban Logs Ltd.

Winston Douglas won the competition with top marks across the board from the panel who could see how much time and effort he had put into his plan.

A Croydon resident, Winston recently retired after over 35 years working for the London Fire Brigade and had been considering starting his own business for some time. He came across our services back in January when he reached out to take part in our Start up and Go Bootcamp training.

I had started putting together a business plan but definitely needed some support and guidance in this area and also getting to grips with various modern-day aspects of planning for a successful business start-up.

Winston threw himself into our training and excelled as his knowledge and business confidence increased throughout the process. He has now successfully launched Urban Logs Ltd.

Based in the Capital, Urban Logs aims to be the most sustainable supplier of firewood, offering a premium wood burning experience with excellent customer services and a focus on safety and education through our social media platforms

Aside from winning our Spring 2022 incubator programme, Winston’s greatest achievement thus far is taking on a storage solution with preferential rates, which he negotiated hard for.

Our judges were impressed with Winston’s tenacious energy in pushing his business forward, all whilst paying attention to dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s of his business plan.

Close on the winner’s heels were Raymond Kalunga and Kelisha Polson-Deans, both of whom scored highly for presentation, business planning, content and execution.

Thankyou to our incredible volunteers who have handheld applicants throughout the entire process, and to our wonderful Dragons who were able to offer feedback to the budding entrepreneurs which will help them onto the next step.

Congratulations also to the entire spring cohort who really committed to driving their business ambitions forward, and especially to those who stepped up to pitch last week – you’re all winners in our eyes.

Are you starting a new business?
