A whole international day devoted to left-handed people

Celebrate International Left-Handers Day on 13th August!

No-one has come up with a definitive reason for WHY some people are left-handed, but about 13% of the population around the world are, and it is thought to be genetic.

Some of the most talented and influential people throughout history share this one super-trait that has given them incredible abilities in other ways.

Two of the Apollo 11 crew that were first to land on the moon in 1969 – Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins – were left-handed

Tennis superstars John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova were gifted with a left-hander’s ability to surprise and catch a right-handed competitor off guard in sport.

Sir Isaac Newton and Aristotle proved that left-handers can be considerably more intellectually gifted.

Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are left-handed and proven to be more likely than right handers to be creative and visual thinkers.

And our very own Royal family have many left-handers including Prince William and Prince George.
